RGB and A, they're colleagues
RGB and A, they're colleagues
SUMMARY
- Like explained right before, the color of the foreground is added not matter what to the background
- If the color goes beyond the alpha on the foreground, it will appear in the end result, but will be additive
- If you want the area beyond the alpha to not appear at all in the end result, the foreground color needs to be limited by the alpha (to become purely transparent, invisible)
- The tool to easily limit the color by the alpha is called Premult, and simply multiples the color by the alpha
- Therefore when using Premult, the color of the white alpha area is unaffected, while the color of the black alpha area becomes black, invisible
