Hue vs Luminance



SUMMARY

      • Hue is the pure 'color' component of a pixel/area of an image, regardless of how bright or dark it is

      • Luminance is the pure brightness component of a pixel/area of an image, regardless of its hue

      • We always work and adjust them independently

      • Use the Luminance mode in Nuke (shortcut L on the Viewer) to see the image in grey tones

      • Luminance is always to be worked on first, Hue only after
