What's all that noise

SUMMARY

      • Noise comes from the sensor of a camera, and is exacerbated in low-light situations

      • It is present everywhere on an image, but is simply less perceivable in areas higher exposed

      • With lots of light, the signal-to-noise ratio is higher, and therefore the noise seems less present

      • Noise can be deconstructed in different frequencies, between luminance and chrominance, and responds slightly differently depending on the base image

      • The blue channel usually hosts the most intense noise out of the three channels
